Story with an Animal
Program Time: 30-45 minutes each
Program Fee: $35 each at your site

Students will exercise comprehension skills and critical thinking skills, as well as build vocabulary. Through hands-on activities like: examining the mouth of a mounted alligator head with a life-like baby alligator, students will understand how a mother alligator carries her young. Students will also have a chance to touch a live alligator’s skin and compare it to the pelt of another animal that lives in the same habitat. Teachers will be provided with a pre-visit vocabulary, post-visit activities and an evaluation tool.

Students will exercise comprehension skills and critical thinking skills, as well as build vocabulary. Through hands-on activities like: observing and comparing owl feathers, a bat wing replica, and moth mounts, students will compare differences, and establish conclusions for why such differences exist. Students will also have an animal encounter with a Great Horned Owl to aid in their understanding of the species’ adaptations. Teachers will be provided with a pre-visit vocabulary, post-visit activities and an evaluation tool.

Alligators Change their Environment

Grade Level: 1st and 2nd
Program Time: 45-60 minutes each
Program Fee: $50 each at your site
Maximum # /program: 30 people

Through hands-on activities and observation of a live alligator, students will recognize that alligators are exothermic. Students will recognize that alligators alter their environment to benefit their survival, as well as other animals in the environment. Students will also recognize that alligator mothers care for their young unlike other reptiles.
